Description:

The Wat consists of several worshiping buildings, monk living quarters and a small school. It's grounds are approximately 5,760 square metres.

The largest and most significant structure within the walls of the Wat is the 34 metre tall golden Buddha statue.

The structure surrounding the Buddha image is beautifully decorated with smaller Buddha images lining the walls. This area can accommodate approximately 400 people.

This statue, which is outdoors, is called Phra Buddha Ket Mongkhon or Luang Phor Toh Taphan Hin. It's construction was initiated in 1965 and completed in 1970. It is the largest in Phichit Province.

The name “Phra Buddha Ket Mongkhon” was derived from the name of its sub-district “Huai Ket” was granted by His Majesty the King, Bhumibol Adulyadj on January 30, 1970.

The cost of construction was about 750,000 baht.

It is s seated Buddha image in the attitude of giving blessings, sitting cross-legs with one on top of another in the Single Lotus Position. The left hand is laid face up on the lap; with the right hand is face up on the knee typical of the Varada Mudra of giving or generosity.

The Buddha image itself is 30 metres high with a platform of 10 metres which is constructed of reinforced concrete. The base is hollow, and religious relics were placed inside on April 6, 1968.

It is the largest Buddha image in the northern part of Thailand and it is very important to Phichit Province since it is a significant image of Phichit Province and also Taphan Hin District. Many people, especially Chinese people in Taphan Hin Market, worship this Buddha image.

During festivals and religious ceremonies, followers, both in the province and from the other provinces, come to pay respect to Phra Buddha Ket Mongkhon. They also worship and hold the annual celebration on Chinese New Year’s Day.
